I used to be a volunteer at a great animal shelter called the NOAH Center in Stanwood, Washington. They take in adoptable shelter animals who have run out of time elsewhere. I remember the experience fondly because I was a stressed-out law student and volunteering was about the best thing I could have done for myself. The animals gave me so much more than I gave to them and I am grateful for that experience.
Well the other day I was left with the question many moms struggle with – “What are we going to do this afternoon?” My twins are four now, and they’re starting to be pretty good at making suggestions. My daughter said she wanted to take a field trip to go find some cats. Cats? My husband and I are allergic to cats, so…
We visited the dogs and cats for as long as we could. We have two dogs already, so there was no way anybody else was coming home with us. My twins did take the field trip part pretty seriously. That’s why they have on the huge backpacks. Who knows what was in those things.
Trying to explain to them what was going on with the animals there was a good chance for us to talk about love, family, and home. Pretty much what is my whole world now.
Much love to all of the animals at NOAH and we hope for great new homes for all of you soon. Check out their adoptable pets here.
Thanks for stopping by!
